Why do I need a "reference file"?
When a recording is interrupted, the index (moov atom) is never written. A healthy clip from the same camera tells us how to rebuild it. Without one, we try to recover what we can.
Does it work without internet?
Yes — once the page has loaded, repair runs fully offline. The only thing needing a connection is the optional payment step.
