moov atom from interrupted recordings, camera power loss, or drone crashes.
What it can't: truly 0-byte files or media that was never written.
How the repair works
When a recording is interrupted, the video data is usually still on disk — what's missing is the file's index (the moov atom) that tells a player how to lay out the frames. This tool rebuilds that index and container in your browser, then shows a free low-resolution preview so you can judge the result before paying anything.
The most reliable rebuilds come from a short, healthy clip recorded on the same device and the same settings — it supplies a working index to use as a template. Without one, the tool still attempts recovery from the damaged file itself. See how to prepare a reference clip.
What it fixes — and what it can't
- Fixes: MP4 and MOV files with a missing or truncated index — the classic result of a crash, battery death, or power loss mid-recording.
- Can't fix: a file that is truly 0 bytes (no media was ever written), footage overwritten by later recordings, or non-MP4/MOV containers such as WebM, MKV, and AVI.
Frequently asked
Is my video uploaded?
No. The repair runs entirely in your browser on your own device, and your file is never sent to us. See the Privacy Policy.
How much does it cost?
Repairing and previewing is free. You pay a one-time $4.99 only if you want the full-resolution HD download. There is no subscription.
What file types are supported?
MP4 and MOV containers. Other container formats (WebM, MKV, AVI) use different structures and are not supported.
Do I need a reference clip?
It's optional but strongly recommended. A healthy clip from the same camera and settings improves the odds considerably, because it provides an index to rebuild from.
