Privacy Policy

The short version: All file processing is completed on your device, locally. Your videos never leave your browser and are never uploaded to any server.

1. What we do and don't collect

We do not collect your videos. When you use the repair tool, your MP4/MOV files are read and processed entirely inside your web browser using JavaScript. The bytes of your file are operated on in your device's memory and are never transmitted to FixFile or any third party.

Video/audio files: processed locally; never uploaded.
File contents: not stored by us, not sent to us.
Payment: handled by Payhip. We never see your card number. Payhip's own privacy policy governs payment data.

2. Local processing commitment

All file processing is performed on your device. Even if you disconnect from the internet after the page loads, the repair function continues to work. The only features that require a network connection are: (a) loading this website the first time, (b) the optional payment step, which links to Payhip, and (c) a single anonymous visit/event counter, sent to our own domain (fixfile.org), that counts how many repairs started, succeeded, failed, or were paid for. It carries no cookie and no personal information.

2a. Temporary local storage during checkout

If — and only if — you choose to pay, we save your repaired file into IndexedDB, a storage area inside your own browser on your own device. This is necessary because paying sends you to Payhip's website, which unloads this page and would otherwise erase the repaired result held in memory. When you return, we read the file back out of your browser so the download can start.

This copy stays on your device. It is never uploaded to us or to Payhip.
It is deleted automatically as soon as your download begins.
Any copy left behind (for example, if you never return) expires after 24 hours and is purged the next time you open the tool.
You can erase it yourself at any time by clearing site data for this domain in your browser settings.

If you never click the pay button, nothing is written to disk at all.

3. Analytics & cookies

Analytics & cookies. We run a minimal, first-party counter on our own domain. What we count: nine anonymous events — a page was viewed, a file was uploaded, a repair succeeded, a repair failed (tagged with a short reason code such as moov_truncated_no_ref), a preview was shown, the checkout window was opened, the checkout fell back to a secondary path, a paid download was unlocked, and an unlock was completed via transaction ID. What we do not record: no cookies, no account, no stored IP address, no browser fingerprint, and nothing about your file — not its name, size, or contents. Each event carries only a random session identifier kept in your browser's sessionStorage; it cannot follow you across days or devices. Counters are aggregated per day; the underlying event rows are discarded after 90 days and the daily totals are kept indefinitely. The repair tool works identically if this counter is blocked — reporting failures are silently ignored.

Note for the privacy-conscious: Because the repair runs offline, you can open the tool, then enable airplane mode, and the repair will still complete. That is the strongest guarantee we can offer short of reading the open-source code yourself.

4. Payment data

Payments are processed by Payhip (Payhip Ltd). When you choose to download the HD version, you are redirected to Payhip's hosted checkout. Your card details are entered on Payhip's site, not ours — we never receive or store them. Payhip may collect your email address and billing information in order to issue a receipt and comply with tax rules. See Payhip's Privacy Policy.

When the payment script loads: Payhip's checkout script is not loaded when the repair page opens. It is fetched only at the moment you click the pay button, so no third-party payment script runs on the repair page before you choose to pay. Clicking pay opens Payhip's checkout in an overlay on the same page; we do not see or receive your payment details.

Note that your video file is not sent to Payhip. Payhip only handles the payment; the repaired file is produced and delivered entirely by your own browser.

5. Children's privacy

This service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

6. Your rights

Because we do not store your files, there is nothing for us to delete or return. If you have questions about this policy or payment, contact us via the channels published on the site.

7. Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by the effective date above.

Bottom line: Your footage stays on your machine. We built FixFile specifically so you never have to trust a stranger's server with a private video.
