Terms of Service

1. What FixFile is

FixFile is a browser-based tool that rebuilds damaged MP4 and MOV containers — most commonly files whose index (moov atom) was never written because a recording was interrupted. All processing happens locally on your own device. We do not receive, store, or transmit your video files.

2. Free preview, then a one-time payment

• Running a repair and viewing the low-resolution preview is free. No account is required.
• If the preview shows usable footage, you may pay $4.99 once to download the full-resolution repaired file.
• If the preview does not show usable footage, you pay nothing.
• Prices are shown in US dollars at checkout. Any taxes are handled by our payment provider and shown before you pay.

3. No subscription

FixFile is a one-time purchase. We do not offer, and will not charge you for, any recurring subscription. There is nothing to cancel.

4. Payments

Payments are processed by a third-party payment provider. Your card or wallet details are entered on the provider's checkout and are never seen or stored by us. Depending on the provider, they may act as the merchant of record — the legal seller — for your purchase, in which case their own terms and refund rules also apply. The provider used for your purchase is named on the checkout page.

5. Refunds

Because the preview is free and you decide whether to pay after seeing the result, a completed purchase generally means the tool worked for you. That said:

• If you paid but were unable to download the file you paid for, contact us and we will restore your download or refund you.
• If you believe you were charged in error, contact us within 30 days and we will make it right.
• If your purchase was processed by a merchant of record, you may also have statutory rights under their policy — for example, a 14-day right of withdrawal for consumers in the European Union. Ask us and we will point you to the right process.

6. What the tool can and cannot do

We want you to know the limits before you pay:

• Supported: MP4 and MOV containers with missing or truncated index data.
• Not supported: WebM, MKV, AVI and other container formats.
• Not recoverable: files that are truly 0 bytes (no media was ever written to disk), media overwritten by later recordings, and physically damaged storage.
• No guarantee: repair succeeds on most but not all damaged files. A reference clip from the same device and settings substantially improves the odds. The free preview exists precisely so you can judge the result before paying.

7. Your responsibilities

• Keep a backup. Always work on a copy of the damaged file. We cannot recover anything that was never written to your storage.
• Keep your browser tab open. The repaired file lives in your browser's memory until you download it. Closing the tab before downloading can lose it.
• You must have the right to the footage. You confirm that you own the videos you process, or have permission from the owner.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to use FixFile to process material that is unlawful, that you do not have the right to possess, or that infringes anyone's rights. You also agree not to attempt to disrupt the service, circumvent its payment step, or resell access to it.

9. Your content and our content

Your footage stays yours. We claim no rights over the videos you process — we never receive them. The site and tool are ours: the FixFile name, site copy, design, and repair code remain our property. You may not copy or redistribute them.

10. Availability

The repair itself works offline once the page has loaded. Only loading the site and the optional payment step need a connection. We aim to keep the service available but do not promise uninterrupted operation, and we may change or discontinue features.

11. Disclaimer

FixFile is provided "as is". We do not warrant that it will recover any particular file, or that a recovered file will be free of defects. To the extent permitted by law, we exclude implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

12. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim relating to FixFile is limited to the amount you actually paid us for the purchase in question. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost footage, lost profits, or lost opportunities. Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded by law.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be reflected by the effective date above. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
